International Computer and Information Literacy Study 2023
ICILS is a large-scale assessment conducted by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement. The study assesses 8th graders' computer and information literacy every five years and provides trends in adolescent competencies.

The background to the ICILS study is that the competent use of digital media is becoming increasingly important in all areas of life and work. From the perspective of educational monitoring, the question is what competencies children and young people have in this area and how these can be fostered in schools.
ICILS is an internationally comparative and cyclical study of computer and information literacy among students in the eighth grade. The focus is on the diagnostics of a selected age group with the aim of locating the competence level of young people in Germany internationally (benchmarking function) and describing their developments over time (trend analyses).
