How to find the IPN

By train (arriving at Kiel’s central rail station)

From Kiel central station to the IPN:
On foot: approx. 35 to 40 minutes
By taxi: approx. 10 minutes
By bus: take either bus 62 (toward Projensdorf), bus 61 (toward Suchsdorf Rungholtplatz), or bus 81/82 (toward Uni/Botanischer Garten), getting off at the "I.P.N." bus stop. The bus stop is directly in front of the main entrance to the IPN building. The bus journey from the central rail station to the IPN bus stop takes approximately 17 to 20 minutes.

By air (arriving at Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel airport)

From Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel airport to the IPN in Kiel:
Because the airport is situated in the north of Hamburg, traveling into Hamburg city center to take the train from there is a relatively time-consuming way of getting to the IPN. It is much easier to take the "Kielius", an hourly bus service that goes from the airport directly to Kiel. The journey time from Hamburg airport to the central rail station in Kiel is about 90 minutes. Follow the directions above once you get there.

By ferry (arriving at Kiel ferry port) (Schwedenkai)

From Schwedenkai to the IPN:
On foot: approx. 30 to 35 minutes
By taxi: approx. 10 minutes
By bus: after a few minutes’ walk from Schwedenkai to the "Bootshafen" bus stop, take bus 62 (toward Projensdorf) or bus 61 (toward Suchsdorf Rungholtplatz), getting off at the "I.P.N." bus stop. The bus stop is directly in front of the main entrance to the IPN building. The bus journey to the IPN bus stop takes approximately 12 to 15 minutes.

Entering Kiel via the B 404 / B 76: When you drive into Kiel, you will see signs for the "Universität". Follow these signs, which will direct you via Westring to the university. At the junction of Westring and Olshausenstr., turn right onto Olshausenstr. After a short time (two minutes at the most), you will pass under two bridges. The first one is a pedestrian bridge and the second a cycle bridge. Once you have passed under the cycle bridge, you will see, on your right, a white five-story building with a blue annex and a bus stop in front of it. This is the IPN building. The parking lot is situated at the back of the building.

Entering Kiel via the A 215: Shortly after the motorway junction "Kiel West", you will start to see signs for "Universität". Follow these to the B 76, then follow the directions above.
