Statement of Solidarity with Israel

As we respond with shock and horror to the October 7 attack on Israel and the atrocities carried out by the terrorist attackers, our concern and empathy are with our colleagues and friends in Israel. The murder of innocent civilians, including students, faculty, and retired members of our partner institutions, sickens us; the news of babies and children, people with disabilities, and elderly people being murdered or taken hostage is unbearable.

As researchers, we are committed to objectivity and the consideration of multiple points of view. However, there can never be any justification for the murder of civilians, the taking of hostages, and the terrorists’ stated aim of eliminating an entire country.

The IPN stands with its colleagues in Israel, the Israeli people, and all those suffering due to the war Hamas has unleashed. It is our fervent hope that stability and safety may soon be restored and that the hostages can return safe to their homes.
