The Standing Scientific Commission of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany (SWK) recently issued a report on recruiting and training teachers for high-quality teaching. A number of new episodes in its “SWK Talks” series of online events, to commence on December 12, will center on the dissemination of the report’s contents to relevant specialist audiences. Each SWK Talk will feature members of the SWK discussing the main points of the report with policymakers and educational practitioners. Those following the talk online can use the chat function to ask questions and take part in the discussion. All episodes will be available on the IPN’s Youtube and Spotify channels.

SWK Talk Episode 1, December 12, 2023, 2:30 to 3:30 pm: Presentation of report on "Teacher recruitment and teacher training for high-quality teaching"

The first event in this third series of “SWK Talks” will revolve around the report as a whole. The co-chairs of the SWK, Prof. Dr. Felicitas Thiel, professor of School Pedagogy and School Development Research at Freie Universität Berlin, and Prof. Dr. Olaf Köller, research director at the IPN, will outline its central recommendations. We hope to welcome Katharina Günther-Wünsch, President of the Standing Conference and Berlin’s Senator for Education, Youth and Family, to discuss the report with them.
